Veep: Anti Fuel Price Hike Demonstation Should Be Staged Proportionally

“As a country respecting democracy, we appreciate freedom of expression, but it should be staged peacefully and amicably,” he said here on Monday.
Kalla really deplored violence or anarchy occurring during the demonstration. “What we really deplorable is the use of violence and anarchy. The demonstration should be done in a proportional manner.”
On Monday, a number of community members staged street rally rejecting the government’s plan to increase fuel oil prices amidst rising prices of world crude oil on the world market which has USD125 per barrel.
The female demonstrators also burned the posters of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Yusuf Kalla in their protest against the government’s failure in siding with the people. “We are very disappointed with Sby and JK,” said Erwin of the Indonesian Youths Community Movement which was grouped in the “People’s Front Protest.” The demonstrators demanded for a dialogue with the president, but there was no response from the presidential office.
