PMI Holds Environment Campaigns In Banda Aceh

Banda Aceh ( Berita ) : The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in cooperation with the International Red Cross is holding environment campaigns in Banda Aceh as part of efforts to mitigate the risk of natural disasters.
“Through the campaigns, we would like to remind the public of the importance of conserving the environment for our life to mitigate the risk of natural disasters,” the chief of the PMI’s branch in Aceh, Bustari Mansyur, said on Sunday.
He made the remarks after holding a series of activities, such as fun walk, children’s competitions, blood donation and first aid to mark the anniversary of the International Red Cross.
The activities held from May 8 to 11 were aimed at making the public aware of the tasks of the red cross which serves all mankind, regardless of race, nationality and skin color. Almost all red cross organizations from various countries had expressed support for the success of the post-tsunami environment campaigns and humanitarian activities, he said. ( ant )
