Europe Imports 685,447 Tons Of Lampung Commodities

Bandar Lampung ( Berita ) : A total of ten countries in the European Union have much dependence on Indonesian non oil commodities, including those of Lampung where they imported 685,447 tons in the first four mounths in 2007.

Head of the Trade and Cooperatives Office of Lampung, Suparmo said here on Saturday that in the first quarter of 2007, the European Union imported 685,447 tons of Lampung commodities worth US$167.64 million.

The volume of the exports increased 7.5 percent while their value also rose 20.88 from the same period in the previous year.

“This means that Europe’s dependence on Indonesia’s commodities, particularly on commodities from Lampung, is relatively high,” he said.

The ten European countries which have imported Lampung’s commodities are the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Italy, Spain, Belgium, France, Denmark, Portugal and Greece.

Lampung’s commdities imported by the European countries included coconut shell, coal, canned escargot, cacao seeds, pineapple juice, active carbon, rubber, cassiavera, robusta coffee, black pepper, crude palm oil, frozen shrimps and canned pineapple.

Of the ten countries, the biggest foreign exchange contributor to Lampung is the Netherlands with an import value of 87.37 million dollars, followed by Germany (41.28 million dollas) and Britain (28.44 million dollars). (ant)
